How to Install A Garage Door Opener?

Release the tension:

When you install garage doors the experts at first release the tension in the torsion spring before they begin working on the garage door. They start by clamping adjustable locking pliers onto the torsion spring shaft and wed the pliers against the header wall which is above the door. Then they insert a steel rod into one of the holes in the spring winding cone, which has four holes and they are used for loosening and tightening. Two rods need to be alternated for one to hold the cone steady and the other to turn the cone after the first rod is removed.

Disconnect the opener and door:

After releasing the tension it is time to disconnect the existing garage-door opener from the door. The next step is to remove the door panels. Start at the top panel, and remove the hinges that are connected to the panel below. Deal with the glass carefully. The track can be disconnected by unscrewing or unbolting it from the doorframe. Install the door panel:
